Integrated Solutions from Production, R&D, Construction to After-sales.

Right now, a lot of fish/shrimp ponds are being built to farm fish/shrimp in commercial use because of increasing huge demand for good protein nutrition from modern people.
Fish/shrimp Pond
A fish/shrimp pond, is a controlled pond, artificial lake, or reservoir that is stocked with fish/shrimp and is used in aquaculture for fish/shrimp farming, or is used for recreational fishing or for ornamental purposes. Fish/shrimp ponds are being promoted in developing or undeveloped countries. They provide a source of food and income from the sale of fish/shrimp for small farmers and can also supply irrigation needs and water for livestock. And from many years ago, the intensive fish/shrimp farming is done mainly because of income request for the people in developing or undeveloped countries. The cultivated fish/shrimp will be largely exported to developed countries or developing countries.
Fish/shrimp Pond Liner: HDPE Pond Liner
Several pond liner types are available for fish/shrimp farming. Among these types, HDPE pond liner (also called HDPE geomembrane) is very popular to be used in fish/shrimp farming.
Below are scientific references to support the use of HDPE geomembrane in aquaculture farming application:
(1) Aquaculture farms in Belize: Robins P. Mclntosh, 2000, reported how using an HDPE pond liner reduced erosion of pond banks, increased the speed of the turn‑around time between crops, sustained water levels, and improved pond efficiency.
(2) Agromarina de Panama Farm, Panama: Bray et al., 2001, issued a report describing how the destructive White Spot Syndrome Virus(WSSV) was bringing production to a halt in earthen ponds. The report found that survival rates increased from 9% in earthen ponds to 80% in ponds lined with a 0.75mm HDPE geomembrane.
(3) East Java, Indonesia: N. Taw et al., 2002, reported that productivity improved from 3634kgs/ha in an earthen pond to 10094kgs/ha in ponds lined with HDPE geomembrane.
Comparison between Two Types of Pond Farming
Earthen (or concrete) Pond Farming VS HDPE Liner Lining Pond Farming
• Harmful acid, alkaline in soil and water maintenance VS Good water maintenance without soil pollution
• Underground water becomes salty due to seawater seeping VS No happening of this case
• Fast plankton growing in the later stage of culturing VS Slow plankton growing in the early stage but become stable in the later stage
• Difficult to remove organics which will cause contamination VS Easy removal and without bacterial infection
• Require treatments after harvest (eg. basking, soil replacement and sterilization etc.) VS Can be used after fresh water cleaning only
• Dike is easily destroyed by water wave or crabs VS Difficult to be destroyed because of high tensile strength and excellent elasticity of hdpe liner
• Shrimp gill are easily contaminated by mud VS Gill will not be polluted
• Two crops per year VS Three or four crops per year
• High cost and long construction period VS Cost can be saved 20%‑50%
• Rough surface which will cause fish or eel or shrimp to be hurt VS Smooth surface which will greatly reduce the risk of hurting aquaculture animals

Notes:
1 Most popular thickness for pond liner farming system is 0.5mm and 0.75mm.
2 Net weight (kgs) per roll calculation formula: width m * length m * thickness mm * 0.94
3 5.8m width is usually made to fit the 20’ container.
4 Our maximum width is 8m and length can be made as request.
5 Most ordinary and popular color is black. Other color can be made based on minimum quantity request.
