Product Description

We, Shanghai Yingfan Engineering Material Co., Ltd., are a professional manufacturer of clay geosynthetic barriers. This product is also known as geosynthetic clay liner (GCL), clay blankets, bentonite blankets, bentonite mats, prefabricated bentonite clay blankets. The term “clay geosynthetic barriers” is currently preferred by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

Clay Geosynthetic Barriers Introduction

Clay geosynthetic barrier is a bentonite‑based geosynthetic waterproof liner, widely used to replace thick‑layer expensive compacted clay.

It adopts sandwich‑structure: non‑woven geotextile, natural sodium bentonite layer and polypropylene woven geotextile sheet.

Bentonite (main component >70% montmorillonite and other expansive clay) has excellent water‑swelling property. Needle‑punched manufacturing process provides high shear strength, which is essential for slope installation. Therefore our clay geosynthetic barriers are widely used in various civil‑engineering erosion‑control projects.

Its performance meets or exceeds GRI‑GCL3 and Chinese national standard JG/T193‑2006.

Differences between Clay Geosynthetic Barriers (GCL) and Compacted Clay Liners (CCL)

Material: GCL: bentonite clay, geotextiles; CCL: native soil or soil‑bentonite blends

Production: GCL: factory pre‑manufactured, field installation; CCL: on‑site construction and amendment

Thickness: GCL: approx. 6 mm; CCL: 300‑900 mm

Hydraulic conductivity: GCL: 10⁻¹⁰ ~ 10⁻¹² m/s; CCL: 10⁻⁹ ~ 10⁻¹⁰ m/s

Construction: GCL: fast & simple installation; CCL: slow, strict and complex compaction work

Installed cost: GCL: $0.05‑0.10/m²; CCL: $0.07‑0.30/m² (variable)

Quality control: GCL: strict QA/QC required; CCL: heavily labor‑dependent

FAQ

Q: Are you a manufacturer or trading company?

A: We are a well‑established professional manufacturer located in China.

Q: What is your MOQ?

A: For in‑stock clay geosynthetic barrier, MOQ is one roll. For non‑stock regular specifications, MOQ is 1000 m².

Q: Can you provide installation support?

A: Yes, we can offer installation supervision service. The product is easy to lay, yet labor‑intensive; normally at least 10 workers are required for on‑site installation.

Granular bentonite is the core raw material of GCL, and its quality directly determines the overall performance. Yingfan strictly selects reliable raw‑material suppliers and carries out batch‑by‑batch inspection. Welcome to contact us for further information.
